Warringah Freeway Upgrade - Greater Sydney - Reference Design - Model Calibration for Warringah Highway Upgrade - Sydney
The Warringah Freeway upgrade is part of improvements commitment to reduce traffic on City local roads and help to create better connections for our community to the future Western Harbour Tunnel and Beaches link.
Major Warringah Freeway upgrade includes:
- Upgrade four-kilometers of the Warringah Freeway, to reduce the amount of merging required, and improve safety and traffic flow.
- Improve interchanges with Falcon Street at Cammeray and High Street at North Sydney, including a new northbound on ramp at High Street.
- Connections to the future Western Harbour Tunnel and Beaches Link.
- Improved public transport links, with a continuous southbound bus lane from Miller Street to the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
For large and complex changes in proposed upgrades it was preferable to create microsimulation traffic models. They have the ability to reflect key network features such as traffic signal operations, freeway merging and weaving, and evaluate operation characteristics of the detailed road network design.
T-Mode was commissioned to create calibrated estimation of base year demand matrices to be used in microsimulation model.
