Reconstruction and Modernization of Railway Line
Stalac - Kraljevo - Rudnica, Serbia
Prefeasibility Study with General (Concept) Design.
The railway line, Stalac – Kraljevo – Rudnica (SKR) is single track, non-electrified line, and has a total length of 149 km length, divided in two sections: Stalac – Kraljevo (72 Km, on Route 11) and Kraljevo – Rudnica (77 Km, on Route 10).
The railway line is of strategic importance to Serbia as it allows for more efficient transport to the Port of Bar and to Pristina, Skopje and Greece and the task was to develop General Design and Prefeasibility study for both above mentioned SEETO routes.
The overall objective of the project is to safeguard the functionality of the SKR railway line by aligning it with the relevant standards as specified in TEN-T regulation. The aim of the project was to increase the operational speed, reduce travel times, improve traffic safety and reliability of the railway infrastructure, so as to support the growth of passenger and freight traffic on the line.
The Prefeasibility Study identified an appropriate range of alternative solutions, evaluated and compared them from a functional, technical, economic, financial, spatial, environmental, and social point of view. This allowed for a comprehensive evaluation process that ensured the optimal solution was chosen.
