Republic of Turkey National Transport Master Plan
The main objective of the project was to develop a National Transport Master Plan (NTMP) which would facilitate the development of a safe, secure, accessible, inclusive, efficient, sustainable, and technologically innovative transport sector and infrastructure. The aim was both to boost the Turkish economy and improve the quality of life for all Turkish citizens.
The NTMP was done in several phases:
- Understanding of existing transport conditions,
- Analysis of the available data,
- Collecting new data through field surveys,
- Development of National Multi-Modal Transportation Model for both passengers and freight and transport demand projections,
- Development of the National Transport Master Plan, including identification of bottlenecks and persistent problems for the Turkish transport system,
- Development of a monitoring plan and preparation of Urban Transport Master Plans.
